Focus and Scope

The Sri Lanka Journal of Forensic Medicine, Science & Law is an open access, peer reviewed publication of the University of Peradeniya. It is managed by the Department of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka. Publication of the journal commenced in 2010 and it has been published bi-annually continuously to date.

Aims of the journal is to:

  • Disseminate research findings, case reports and technical notes in the areas of forensic medicine, forensic science and relevant law for the local and international audience;
  • Make available a platform for forensic practitioners to publish their work;
  • Educate the medico-legal practitioners of new knowledge and skills so that they will utilize them in their work related to administration of justice
  • Develop and promote a research writing culture among the medicolegal community.

The journal will include articles in the fields of forensic medicine, forensic sciences & law and ethics as applied to forensic practice. It will include original research papers, reviews, points of view, case reports, technical notes and letters to the editor.

The SLJFMSL follows the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Articles submitted to the journal are screened by Plagiarism Checker X.

Access

The SLJFMSL which has been published both, electronically and in print formats since 2010, will no longer have a print version. The electronic version of the published articles can be accessed at the journal web site http://sljfmsl.sljol.info All articles are published as open access. Print copies of back issues are available at the department of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya and electronic versions are archived.

Revenue sources

The SLJFMSL does not charge a fee to process manuscripts submitted to the journal. The journal is funded by the Publications Committee of the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.

Publication Frequency

The journal publishes two issues per annum in June and December.


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 


Archiving Policy

This journal is available for LOCKSS harvesting, to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. See LOCKSS harvesting start page.
